Texas Governor Abbott: Defy Judge Cardone And President Biden

You already know all of this, but let’s just quickly summarize the situation.

The occupant of the White House, or more to the point the unelected, faceless revolutionaries who handle him, is and has been engaging in a campaign to remake America by throwing open our borders to all comers. At our southern border, it’s mass chaos, with extreme lawlessness and high danger in more places than one can count. Hundreds of thousands of illegal migrants are flooding into the country with no vetting, no qualifications, and not even an attempt at screening them for infectious disease.

This flood is happening in the middle of a pandemic which the federal government is using to restrict the freedoms of its own citizens.

The feds are just dropping off COVID-infected illegal migrants in the downtowns of cities like McAllen, Texas, something which has suspiciously begun to accelerate since that city, which is 85 percent Latino, elected a Republican mayor in early July.

Or else the feds – or their contractors, as several charitable non-profit organizations have been drafted for this cause – are trafficking those illegals across the country and dropping them off wherever. More than 10 percent of them, probably a lot more than 10 percent of them, are carrying the virus.

Texas’ governor Greg Abbott, who is up for re-election next year and who has a host of Republican primary challengers because most of Abbott’s party wants to see a harder line taken on the illegals, finds himself forced to do the will of his citizens. Doing something about the hell Biden has created along the Rio Grande is not just a partisan Republican thing, by the way. Biden’s party is in free fall among Hispanics in Texas because of the neglect of his job.

So Abbott, who has talked about having Texas build a border wall of its own and calling out the National Guard to keep the migrants away, took the step last week of issuing an executive order on the question of migrant trafficking. He knew he didn’t have the authority to stop federal agents from loading migrants on buses and bringing them around his state or to other states (there is a small, but growing body of evidence that the Biden administration is dumping illegals principally on red states, like Florida for example, which had a lot to do with Gov. Ron DeSantis’ devastating takedown of Biden on Wednesday), but Abbott did have an opening with respect to the nonprofits.

As such, he authorized Texas law enforcement officials to stop and redirect any vehicles chartered or operated by civilians which are trafficking migrants from the border. This includes the nonprofits the Biden administration has teamed with.

A federal judge in El Paso named Kathleen Cardone, who in a rather bitter irony was a George W. Bush appointee (of course, Bush’s awful border policies would find fresh ways to bedevil Americans attempting to impose some sense of order amid the current chaos), granted a temporary restraining order barring Abbott from carrying out his plan.

Cardone scheduled a hearing on Aug. 13 to review the situation. Abbott would apparently get to watch as those charities fill up buses with the world’s COVID patients and carry them across the fruited plain for almost 10 days before having any authority to do something about it.

And meanwhile, the Biden administration let loose a broad-based attack on American real estate property ownership. Biden extended one of the worst policy mistakes of the Trump administration, namely the use of the CDC to bar landlords from evicting tenants who are skipping their rent. It was a bad move when Trump did it, but it’s an even worse move now. Why? Because five justices of the Supreme Court said at the end of June that the CDC eviction ban was unconstitutional.

One of the five, Brett Kavanaugh, allowed it to continue until its expiration on July 30, but he said anything past that couldn’t happen without an act of Congress.

Joe Biden listened to the advice of legal scholars on the question. Biden admitted most of them – only, it seems, the lunatic partisan-hack leftist Laurence Tribe disagreed – told him it would be illegal to reinstitute the eviction ban.

And then Biden reinstituted it.

Welcome to the post-republic, ladies and gentlemen, in which clear, obvious, bright-line Supreme Court statements of law can be blown past knowingly and contemptuously.

What does this have to do with Greg Abbott?

Everything.

He’s just been given a green light to tell Judge Cardone that he isn’t interested in her temporary restraining order. Or any other order. Abbott ought to appeal it, to keep up appearances, but at the end of the day Greg Abbott’s job is to protect the people of Texas from threats internal and external, and if the Biden administration wants to be such a threat then so be it.

Abbott ought to start interdicting those buses and redirecting them back to the border. He ought to force Biden to use federal personnel to move those migrants, which Biden can’t do without making an already intolerable situation even worse. And he ought to make sure the whole country knows that it’s the men and women of law enforcement in Texas who are making sure Joe Biden isn’t deluging their towns with illegal migrants, many of whom are spreaders of COVID.

And then let’s see.

What Abbott shouldn’t do is worry much about what such a decision would mean for the rule of law. That’s certainly a nice consideration, and just a few months ago it would have been controlling to these circumstances. But now? Joe Biden just flicked boogers at the United States Supreme Court, defying a ruling directly on point with the case at hand. Biden signaled that the American federal government is nothing more than a criminal cabal, unbound by any sense of the rule of law.

We’re so 1776 right now it’s mind-blowing.

And what’s necessary are men and women willing to stand as Americans did back then against the lawless tyrants operating from a faraway, increasingly foreign capital.

Biden giving weepy speeches about Jan. 6 Thursday, right after illustrating precisely why so many Americans demonstrated in Washington, DC that day is awfully instructive. Jan. 6 is the safety blanket of this entire ruling cabal; they go back to it every time something goes wrong. And it went wrong when DeSantis dropped a 100-kiloton rhetorical nuke on his head Wednesday.

Abbott needs to get into that business. There must be consequences for this federal government’s manifest abuses of power. If there aren’t, the 2022 election won’t make any difference to the imperial rule now setting in, and future elections might not even be held.

That’s literally where we are. Biden stumbled across the Rubicon this week, ice cream cone in hand. He must be shown that it won’t be tolerated.
