Plane Crash Survivors Left Tangled In Power Lines

Two people were rescued early on Monday morning from a plane that had crashed in Montgomery County, Maryland, on Sunday night and was left dangling 100 feet in the air from power lines.

After being trapped in the wreckage for several hours following the crash, rescue personnel were able to extract the small plane’s pilot and passenger. According to officials, both patients were transported to a hospital with serious wounds.

To make sure there was no residual energy flowing through the building, workers had to de-energize and ground the electric tower. Officials stated that in order to prevent it from falling during the rescue, the plane had to be fastened to the tower.

Around 6:15 p.m., in the Montgomery Village neighborhood of Gaithersburg, the plane crashed into some power lines, according to Fox station WTTG in Washington, D.C.

Pete Piringer, the chief spokesperson for the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service, reported on Twitter that there were two people aboard the small plane, which was suspended about 100 feet in the air.

After dusk, a thick fog began to cover the area, making the rescue effort more difficult.

According to Pepco, the plane crash left about 85,000 customers without power.

About six hours after the crash, according to Pepco, all impacted customers had their power restored.

The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed the crash and the number of people on board the small plane Sunday evening:
